Aberdeen Crash Out Of The Cup Again!!!!

Aberdeen went in to tonight's match against East Fife struggling in the SPL and lacking a serious goal threat. As with many past seasons the Dons went down 0-1 at Todders to supposedly weaker opposition. Rory McArdle pulled it back for the Dons  and Darren Mackie gave Aberdeen the lead with 48 minutes gone. The Dons looked in control but a determined East Fife pushed on to equalise.

East Fife surprisingly went ahead in the 57th minute and the part timers were clearly looking to claim another SPL scalp. It took until the 90th minute when new Aberdeen signing Rory Fallon scored a penalty to take the game in to extra time. In extra time the Dons were all over the second division outfit and should have ran away with the game.

Regardless of the onslaught of pressure from Aberdeen the Fife club held on to take the game in to penalties. Aberdeen eventually went out on penalties with Rory Fallon, Josh Magennis, and Chris Clarke  all missing from the spot. Peter Pawlett, Ricky Foster  and Kari Arnason scored and Gonzalez saved twice but it just wasn't enough to knock out a team we should thrash for fun.

I always to to remain an optimist but looking at the start to the season we have had it could be a long old year. Yet again we have been knocked out of the cup by lower league opposition and  we are currently  sitting 10th in the SPL. I do think the likes of Chalali, Fallon, Vernon and Magennis can get goals but how long do we have to wait for it to happen?

I will never stop supporting my beloved Aberdeen FC but it's getting very painful to watch a once proud club being ripped apart by greed. Stewart Milne and Co go on and on about new investors and moving solving the current problem at the club but he and the board are the ones making the Red Army endure some drab nights at a once bustling Pittodrie.

Please, Please, Please turn things around and give the Red Army something to cheer.
