Maceo Rigters Is Newest Trialist At Todders!!

Maceo Rigters is the latest trialist to join the Dons at Pittodrie. The former Dutch under 21 internationalist is training with the Dons this week and it is understood that Craig Brown is set to make a decision in the next 24 hours about offering the striker a contract.

With the first three SPL games gone and still no goals something definitely has to be done to correct the problem. Let's take a quick look at what we actually have at the moment. We have Scott Vernon who had a good season last year but struggled towards the end with a hernia. We have Darren Mackie who has slowed down ten fold and now can't offer us the speed he once did. There is also big Josh Magennis, Michael Paton and even Mitch Megginson. All of the younger lads have great potential but without game time it will be hard for them to improve. Big Josh scored earlier today along with Ryan Jack both at under 21 level so let's hope that gives them some confidence.

Getting back to Rigters, he is of course a striker from Holland who has played Premiership football and has been capped a number of times for the under 21 side. Rigters was the top scorer in the 2007 under 21 Euro Championships with 4 goals and helped Holland go on to win the tournament. The striker has been about a few clubs in his career and gained quite alot of experience, unfortunately he has picked up a few injuries which has seen him sidelined along the way.

Maceo now plays for Willem 11 in Holland but has played for Blackburn Rovers, Norwich City and had a few other loan spells after starting his career in Holland. I'm sure all of you Dons fans who have watched the video I posted will agree he could be a good asset to the club if he can stay fit and get a regular run in the side. We desperately need a new face in the Dons attack so if he signs let's hope he gets stuck in and gets a goal against the Jambos on Saturday.
