Aberdeen Robbed By Late Penalty
Aberdeen put in a great shift against Hibs at Easter Road only to be robbed by a late penalty. Aberdeen controlled the whole of the first half and really looked the part with some smooth passing and good attacking play. The first goal came from young Michael Paton with a great shot across the keeper and in to the bottom left corner much to the delight of the Aberdeen fans.Aberdeen kept pressing for the second and were rewarded when a vicious header from new striker Steve Maclean. The dons went in to half time 0-2 up. When the second half kicked off Aberdeen still looked threatening but a goal was pulled back by Hibs and the game was really back on.
Aberdeen continued to create chances and looked as if they would take a further lead when Michael Paton hit the bar from outside the box. In the last few minutes of the match the ball hit the hand of big Zander Diamond and it really was ball to hand but the referee still gave the penalty and Hibs drew level. Aberdeen could of taken all 3 points when Stuart Duff went one on one with the keeper but failed to score.
All in all it was a very positive performance from the Dons ahead of the Celtic game on Saturday.
