New Season Only Days Away
With the kick off of the new season on Saturday against St Johnstone comes a fresh hope for Aberdeen FC and all of the red army. In previous seasons we have stumbled against lower opposition and been bullied in to defeat but after watching the new signings coming in and the so called stars leaving I think this is our season to shine. Six new signings in total are now on board including Isac Osbourne, Youll Mawene, David Gonzalez, Kari Arnason, Chris Clarke and joining the Dons tonight is ex Blackburn Rovers keeper Jason Brown.
The main thing I think Craig and Archie still need to bring in is a clinical striker, I know this will be difficult on our budget but we have been able to bring in some good players so far and with Browns connection I'm sure he will get a descent striker before the transfer window closes. Once the SPL campaign kicks of the new look Dons team are going to be looking to make an impression from the start and it's vital we pick up every point possible in the early games. If we can maintain good form European football is well within our reach.Pre-season saw us perform well in Germany and come away with out a win but as the fitness improved we started to dominate the lower league opponents which should be expected. The culmination of our pre-season came last night against Spanish giants Villa Real in a game which did the red army proud. The Dons showed some good composure on the ball and dealt well with the fluent passing motion of a team who are champions league regulars, our defence stood solid apart from a great goal from Rossi but all in all the signs were very encouraging. The Dons even managed to come close to grabbing a goal of there own on a number of occasions and I'm sure they will come thick and fast when the season starts.
The last thing I have to say to all my fellow red army members is I hope you all turn out in force on Saturday and let's get behind our team. This is the start of a new era for the Dons and one I will be proud to part of.
