A winning start for the Dons

Aberdeen kicked off the SPL season today against Hamilton Accies at Todders. After a poor preseason the Dons needed a win to lift not only moral in the team but in the stands aswell. With Paul Hartley as the new Dons captain the team looked solid and gave a great performance to run out 4-0 winners.

Paul Hartley grabbed a hatrick of penalties on his debut all of which came with a bigger cheer. The other goal came from Aberdeens vice captain Zander diamond to cap a very good start to the season for a new look Dons team.

Apart from Hartley grabbing a hatrick the main key performance in the team came from Sone Aluko. Aluko ripped the Hamilton defence to pieces with some great runs and trickery leading to Aberdeens penalties. Only a goal would have improved Sone's performance and he would of thouroughly deserved it. It was also nice to see Peter Pawlet and big Andy Considine back and playing well in the first team. Young Josh Magennis nearly grabbed his debut goal aswell today only to watch it smash back off the bar from a great header.
.
For the first time in years I am proud to look at the SPL table and see the Dons at the top. I think Paul Hartley will be a very important part of Aberdeens plans this season. If all of our key players can stay injury free and perform the way the did today we will be looking at a huge improvement to last season andhopefully getting back in to europe.
